Job Overview
Alaska Fishing with Mark Glassmaker is looking for experienced and professional fishing guides for the upcoming 2025 fishing season. The position will be from May through October. This position does require a USCG license (OUPV 6-Pack) and applicant must have extensive experience operating both a power boat and rowing a drift boat on rivers. Previous guiding experience is a plus but is not required. You will need reliable transportation for towing a boat, preferably with 4WD.
This job includes long hours and very early morning starts and often involves more than one trip per day. It can involve many days in a row with no days off. Applicant should have good organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to communicate clearly with both fellow guides and customers.
Fishing experience should include both fly and conventional tackle as well as a good understanding and previous experience with popular salmon, steelhead and trout techniques. This include backtrolling plugs and other diving lures from both a drift and power boat. Must have experience with the use of bait including curing and using cured salmon eggs, scents, wrapped sardines on plugs, etc. Must have good knowledge and experience with float fishing and dead drifting beads with both spinning rods and fly rods.
