Description:
The Hunting Manager reports to the General Manager and assists with the safe, efficient, and memorable operations of the member sporting activities at Wing & Barrel Ranch that includes the hunting fields, archery range, dog handling/boarding fishing pond and general maintenance and operation of the sporting aspects of the club.
This position is also responsible for the operation and supervision of the Hunting and Fishing instructors and Dog Handlers. The Hunting Manager is also responsible, with approval, for the procurement and care of the hunting bird population. Plans, implements, and monitors departmental budgets. Trains, and supervises subordinates and applies relevant marketing principles to assure that the wants and needs of club members and guests are consistently exceeded.
The Hunting Manager trains, supervises, plans, and coordinates a variety of service functions that are related to the supervision of the Ranch Hands. These functions include, but are not limited to, providing the care and basic needs of animals being groomed and boarded, proper feeding and care of all animals.
This is an exempt role with core workdays are from Wednesday through Sunday, however hours outside of this schedule may be required to fully perform this role.
Requirements:
- Develops, maintains, and communicates Standard Operating Procedures and emergency plans for Kennel and Hunting Areas.
- Maintaining equipment and implements, manipulating and managing habitat for seasonal hunting.
- Assists in managing and scheduling the staff appropriately and efficiently.
- Provides directions, guidance, and feedback to the dog handlers, hunting guides and fishing instructors.
- Ensures the daily opening /closing SOPs are being followed for Hunting and Kennel operations.
- Develop and implement a routine priority system that will facilitate the standards set by the owner as they apply to the care of animals and maintenance of the building. Set standards of performance that must be met to effectively keep the Kennel app, reservation system running smoothly and profitable.
- Oversee morning cleaning of kennel area.
- Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent. Apply knowledge of normal food and liquid requirements of animals. As required, provide special food and liquids.
- Ensuring an adequate feeding and watering regime is adhered to for the birds.
- The Hunting Manager is responsible for the maintenance of all pheasant and quail pens in the holding pen, I.e., Ensures release pens are of a high standard, predator proof and well maintained.
- Provide leadership and vision in the improvement and development of existing and new innovative hunting program development to better meet the needs of members.
- Serves as an instructor to members and prospective members and assists in matching members to other instructors.
- Advises or assists with questions on gun products or sales as needed.
- Promotes safe shooting, and trains staff and club members on gun safety.
- Ensures the safe handling and disposal of any hazardous materials or residue from sporting operations, including lead and filters.
- Participates in the maintenance and cleaning of sporting operations areas, equipment, and resources.
- Provides input/oversight on property and equipment maintenance. May assist in overseeing the work of contractors or vendors on the property.
- With oversight from the General Manager, assists in the procurement and inventory of clays, shells, guns, hunting birds, and all other products essential to the sporting operations.
- Manages fish stock and pond water.
- Provides finance department input for budgeting. Monitors and track department expenditures to assigned budget.

Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
