Deneki Fishing Guide - Alaska West
Overview
We are seeking a passionate, resilient, flexible, collaborative, and adaptive person to join our awesome team of fishing guides at Alaska West Lodge from mid-June through the first week of September. As a Fly Fishing Guide, you will have the opportunity to provide an unforgettable fishing experience for our guests in the beautiful Alaskan wilderness on the World Famous Kanektok River.

Deneki Outdoors is a fishing adventure operation with two lodges in Alaska and South Andros Island in The Bahamas. Our mission is to provide remarkable fishing experiences that impact the people who impact the world. Whether Spey fishing in Western Alaska, Fly Out fishing in Bristol Bay, Alaska, or casting for bonefish on a remote island in the Bahamas, at Deneki Outdoors, fishing is the destination. Our lodges and camps are located in areas where the fishing is remarkable. Each destination offers fantastic food, and lodging combined with guided fishing in the frontier, and on the water for guests of all ages and all skill levels. Responsibilities
- Lead guided fly fishing trips for guests, ensuring their safety and enjoyment throughout the experience
- Educate guests on fly fishing techniques, equipment, and local fish species
- Provide instruction and guidance to guests of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced anglers
- Assist guests with casting, fly selection, and landing fish
- Maintain a high level of customer service by anticipating guest needs and exceeding their expectations
- Ensure compliance with all fishing regulations and conservation practices
- Maintain and clean fishing equipment and boats
- Assist with lodge operations as needed
Qualifications
- Applicants should have prior guiding experience
- Good knowledge of fly fishing and other fishing methods, and knowledge of all available freshwater species and effective flies in Alaska, especially on the Kanektok River
- USCG OPUV (6 PACK) or higher is ideal, but not required
- Must be able to operate a Jet Boat with basic knowledge of motor maintenance
- Must be comfortable in outdoor situations, and around Alaskan wildlife
- Bear safety knowledge is a must
- Must be comfortable in small bush planes
- Muse be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
- Strong time management skills to effectively plan and execute guided fishing trips
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to educate and interact with guests
- Customer service-oriented mindset with the ability to create a positive and memorable experience for guests
- Leadership qualities to guide and inspire guests during their fishing adventures
Room and Board
All employees will be provided with private, single, or double-occupancy heated WeatherPort Tents. Showers, bathrooms, and laundry are available on-site. Our camp chef will prepare meals for lodge employees.
Season
Mid-June through the First week of September.
Compensation
A monthly salary (based on experience) is paid twice a month plus gratuity. The salary range is $3500- $4300, depending on experience.
